Yiannis Alexiou
Yiannis Alexiou was born and grew up on the island of Kos in Greece. After studying Occupational Therapy in Athens, he moved to London with a national scholarship to complete a master’s degree in Healthcare Management. Whilst fulfilling academic goals Yiannis discovered his true vocation in the arts. He successfully auditioned for the Acting Diploma at The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama and having been awarded "Outstanding Student 2010″on completing his qualifications, Yiannis has showcased his talent in a number of film and theatre productions.
Career highlights include POISED, a feature film he also wrote and co-produced in 2018 and winner of Best LGBT Film at the London Independent Film Festival (LIFF) 2019.
The BAFTA award winning short film REFUGEE by Adam Tyler, DREAM, a period film by Edoardo Pasolini, FEEL FLOWS by Paris Zarcilla that went on to win Best Music Based Film – Van D’or Awards in Cannes & Best Music Video at the LIFF.
A PRECIOUS LIFE by Fraser Precious winner of Best Short Film & Screenplay at London International Filmmaker Festival 2019 and the feature film ADAM & EVE by Dmitriy Kashuba, winner of Best Director at the Slow Low Film Festival Arizona 2018.
In 2020 Yiannis had his directorial debut with KALIMERA, a short film he also wrote and solely produced.
KALIMERA was selected in the first hundred short films at the Cannes Film Festival 2020 and is in the Official Selection and a finalist for an award at the Melbourne Short Film Festival 2021.
